In times past, we've waited for years to see a new MacBook Pro. This time, we get two sets of new pro-grade Apple laptops only about 10 months apart. Apple has raised the curtain on its new line of 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with the latest M3 processors inside.
Apple today announced its new M3 processing platform, which will launch inside fresh iMac and MacBook Pro models, available for order now. The iMac is, for now, exclusively a 24-inch model based on the new M3 chip, starting at $1,299.

It seems like Apple's last big event, where they unveiled the new iPhones, Apple Watches and the like, was just yesterday (it was actually September 7th). But there's a new Apple event today as well, and retailers are anticipating it by delivering some unexpected price drops on hardware. One of the best deals we've found is at Amazon, where the brand-new AirPods Pro with USB-C charging are going for fifty bucks off.
Researchers at the University of Maryland say they've found a way for EVs to store more energy, therefore increasing their range, without a corresponding increase in fire risk.
A recent Xbox update may include a mechanism to block third-party controllers.
Many of us like to think we're web-savvy enough to know when something is fishy (or phishy). Kids don’t have that same wealth of experience and web-surfing wisdom that older users have accumulated–and the bad guys know it. They’re willing to take advantage by planting malicious code on sites that your child would otherwise be innocently looking for.
If you're old enough to remember flip phones, there are probably a few that stand out in your mind. The Motorola Razr, the Nokia 3310, and the Samsung SGH-E700 are three such examples, and that last one is coming back—in the form of an updated Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Most tech users are vehemently loyal when it comes to their platform choices. But I suspect there are open-minded people on both sides of the macOS vs. Windows operating system debate who aren’t aware of what the other side has to offer—or maybe you're just curious. So here I compare the standard operating system features from Microsoft and Apple one by one. Each category has a winner or is declared a tie, and at the end I tally up the points to declare an overall winner. Note that this is a different exercise than how PCMag reviews products, which involves rating each product as a whole in its category rather than as the sum of its parts, as I do here.
Elon Musk is facing criticism from the Israeli government for wanting to supply Starlink access to humanitarian aid groups working in Gaza.
MAUI, Hawaii—Let's start with a great big caveat: This is not your conventional benchmark testing story, at least as PCMag usually does them. We attended Qualcomm's 2023 Snapdragon Summit last week, and were regaled with session after session detailing advances in on-device AI, Qualcomm's ubiquitous Snapdragon smartphone chips, news around new cross-device info sharing and synchronicity. But most of all there is "Oryon": the company’s next-generation CPU core silicon that will scale from laptops (where it will make its first appearance in the company’s Snapdragon X Elite processor next year) eventually to smartphones, automotive applications, and more.

You won't miss either of those things, especially with this healthy price drop of $500 off the 65" model and $400 off the 55" one.

One of the biggest advantages to setting up a smart home network is being able to secure your property and monitor it from anywhere in the world. For Black Friday, Amazon is offering massive discounts on a whole range of Blink products. These deals are on par with what we saw during Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days earlier in this year. MAUI, Hawaii—At Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit 2023, PCMag sat down with two of the company’s senior leaders for a conversation around the star attraction of the first day’s keynote: Snapdragon X Elite, the first PC-compute iteration of the company’s new Snapdragon X family of mobile processors. Qualcomm has made some bold performance and efficiency claims around X Elite. They stand in stark contrast to the relative paucity of Snapdragon laptop-processor design wins to date (compared with Qualcomm's commanding position in smartphone chips). Many of the initial claims throw down the gauntlet to today’s big-three laptop chip makers (AMD, Apple, and Intel).
Image-generating AI seems to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. To work well, it needs a massive treasure trove of well-annotated artwork to train it. That could get expensive, but it's free if you take it from the internet without asking. That latter bit has artists understandably upset, and the new Nightshade tool might give them the means to fight back.

It's certainly not something every EV owner should plan on doing.
I've been very intrigued by the concept of a foldable PC, so when I got the chance to use HP's version for the past couple of weeks, I jumped at the opportunity. The HP Spectre Foldable PC has a 17-inch foldable OLED panel, and it offers the ability to use it in a variety of ways, with the included Bluetooth keyboard. You can have the whole panel folded out, flip down a kickstand, and use it as a desktop. You can lay it flat and use it as a tablet, with an included pen. Or you can fold it in half, put the keyboard on the bottom, and use it like a 12.3-inch laptop. Alternatively, you could just put the keyboard on the lower half of the folded area, and get a larger 14-inch laptop, albeit one in which the lower part of the display is flat while the top part is vertical.
We've talked a bit before about the benefits of a Best Buy Plus / Best Buy Total membership, but this deal is an astonishing illustration. The Samsung Odyssey G9 is an absolutely spectacular curved monitor that delivers across all of the metrics you need it to. It's bright, responsive, blur-free and gigantic, measuring almost 50 inches on the diagonal. You'd normally expect to pay $1800 for one of these, but Total and Plus members can get it for $700 less with a free 2TB internal SSD on top — a $180 value.
