Default xbox format

Can an Xbox read a USB thumb drive that is NTSF formatted?

It seems insane that what some people say is so, namely that theXbox ONLY supports
FAT32 drives. Is there an old and a new version?

No NTFS. It does support HFS+ but you can't use a HFS partition as a memory
unit.
AFAIK the only way to read/write HFS+ on Windows is MacDrive.

What about the hard drive on the 250 GB version of the Xbox?

From what I understand, all drives are formatted FATX. FAT32 can handle
drives as large as 2TB and the 360 OS only will use FATX formats. If you
can hook your 360 drive to your PC and then if the PC sees the drive,
you can check the properties of that drive and it will tell you the
format. The FAT32 format can only write files no bigger than 4GBs, so if
you write game data to disc as to play the game from the 360 HDD, it
will format the file into 4Gb sectors.
