The campaign of the game was obvious to terrorist who were clearly middle eastern, taking over a country and setting off a nuke, while committing other acts of terrorism elsewhere while the SAS, Marines and member of the Russians forces were after them in various missions located in their respective parts of the globe. In multi-player, it was clear that one team could be what are clearly middle eastern characters with head wraps and that they are representative of what those same dressed characters were in the campaign aspect of the game. I didn't see a bunch of hub-bub over that. The terrorists are assholes anyway, using primarily their religious beliefs to promote their brand of dehumanization. I also remember North Korea giving fits over Ghost Recon 2 on the PS2 and Xbox systems, I had no issue with that as well. |

Yeah, when I saw the poll there I knew what to expect (namely, not mentioning the multi-player aspect at all). Ultimately, given the usual focus of 6/Fox28, its audience will probably give them the answer they desire (blind leading the blind, and all that ^_^). |

I can't help but think that because this isn't Call of Duty that EA is catching this flak over their upcoming release of MOH about this issue. And it does come full circle, why is it an issue now that the "insurgents" are given a proper title like the Taliban? The Modern Warfare series has used the template of the current conflict to model their game after, and not a word mentioned of the participating terrorist faction in either of the 2 games over 4 years? Why wasn't this an issue with the MW games? Even though they were not coming right out and saying the name of the brown skinned terrorists, we all know who they are supposed to be. Here's a flashback: The movie Iron Eagle 3 from the 80's featured the Taliban as the enemy. Should issues be raised about this film? I'm guessing not. |
