I've just finished the Dead Space: Extraction campaign and loved it.
Is Dead Space up to the same high standard? I'm a bit worried that it's going to be too scary for me - At least with DS:E you don't have to force yourself forward, that part's automatic. Is Dead Space full of foreboding dark rooms that you have to force yourself into before getting shocked by something jumping out of a closet? I'm hopeless with that stuff. I'm hoping it's more action/horror (think Aliens) rather than suspense/horror (think Alien). -- -Toby Add the word afiduluminag to the subject to circumvent my email filters. |

I think you'll be alright - I started playing and did the first couple of hours before deciding it was a game I needed hi-def for. Now that I have a new telly I'll be starting again. There are a few shock moments early on, but nothing to compare with the likes of Eternal Darkness or Project Zero/Fatal Frame. Choobs -- Sir Chewbury Gubbins <jmd@nelefa.org.invalid> ... I played the demo last night and actually found it quite hard targetting individual moving limbs using a thumbstick and 3rd-person view. I only had two goes but wasn't able to get past the first fight in either of them. -- -Toby Add the word afiduluminag to the subject to circumvent my email filters. |

I think there's an auto-targetty thingy, but I could be wrong ![]() Choobs -- Sir Chewbury Gubbins <jmd@nelefa.org.invalid> ... It's a brilliant game. I can't recommend it highly enough. It isn't pant wettingly scary IIRC. It is very nicely judged difficulty wise being quite tricky in sections and requiring careful use of weapons but is in no way irritating. Looks good too. |
