how to use better the BBS by command lines ?

it's my first time in a BBS and i would to have all the information to use better the bbs's
anyone is available to teach me something ?

i never used bbs for the simple fact that my first access was in 2002 and at that time i founf
found Internet, not BBS's :-(

reading too much on the books i found few s
documents about SUN DEVIL in USAS USA and ITALIA CRACKDOWN

and i am again searching anyone about social engineering and phreaking.
