In the thread about Criterion, someone mentions a PS3 with SACD output.
Can someone explain? I've been dying to find a decent machine that can
play SACD.

What's there to explain? If the PS3 supports SACD, it'll need to be
connected to your surround system with the optical audio cable I believe.
That's all there is to it, isn't it?

Has to be connected via hdmi and your receiver has to be able to receive
multi-channel audio via hdmi too.
