"Suffer! Just like 'G' did!" Gundam 0079 Side Story (DC) - I never did become a proper Gundam fan. There are giant robots, and a unique science fiction technology that explains how to power them, and one of the recent shows has an interesting Arab protagonist, but I don't have the correct ratio of youth-to-patience to become a devotee. So I'm sure the reason I own the game is because I was indiscriminately buying every Dreamcast release at the time, as opposed to it having any genunine appeal to me. It's got a cockpit view of the combat action and lots of creaking, stomping footfalls. I remember from playing for ten minutes or so that it reminded me pleasantly of the Iron Soldier series. Geist (GC) - Some sort of horror survival game? I seem to recall ghostly posession and telekinesis. I don't know that I've actually ever popped the disk into the 'Cube, but I do remember that I picked up the game for cheap in one of the absurd Toys R Us sales that they used to have. Galahad (MD) - Beware of your own game prejudices. I saw medieval armour and an Arthurian character and assumed that it was an RPG, but it turned out to be a horrible, horrible platformers. I've only played 90 seconds of it, literally. Gain Ground (MD) - I've only ever played the first 30 seconds of a round. I've tried it about five times, and then something important has happened to draw my attention away. So I'm superstitiously afraid ever to get into the game properly. I know it's some sort of arcade RTS hybrid but I couldn't begin to tell you how to play it properly. -KKC, who didn't get quite enough sleep. -- -- "Step 8: Make a list of all the persons I | kendrick have harmed, and file them alphabetically | @io-nyc.com for ease of reference." | - David Javerbaum, "The Last Testament"

I have this, but never played it. It took a hundred years to come out and was basically the same game as Messiah which came out a few years previous. > Galahad (MD) - Beware of your own game prejudices. MD port of Leander on the Amiga. It was pretty good. Had to really scrape the barrel to think of these: Gazza's Superstar Soccer (ST) Can't say I'm too upset to have let this one go past. G Police (PS1) I remember a lot of hype about this but from the brief go I had on a pod in HMV it seemed really bad. Gooch World Class Cricket (ST) Had a demo of this on a coverdisk and actually used to quite enjoy playing it. The graphics had a nice, chunky, console feel to them: http://www.cricketgames.com/games/co...cc/ggwcc-1.gif Never played the full game, though. Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) I have this installed on my phone but haven't got around to trying it yet. -- -Toby Add the word afiduluminag to the subject to circumvent my email filters. |

On a PS1 it was all big polygons, low res textures, no texture filtering, and low FPS. -- -Toby Add the word afiduluminag to the subject to circumvent my email filters. |

Waited for it to be cheap. Didn't bother buying it when it was. Grandia II (DC) - The first is one of my all time favourite games. I've started the sequel several times but never got into it for some reason. Unless it's on another platform now it's unlikely I will return to it. I have most of the Guitar Hero games but I've never played... Just checked gamestracker though and Amazon have a used (like new allegedly) copy for £7.60 so I have purchased. In 2014 I'll report back on what its like. -- WCZ |

It's totally worth your time to go back to it if you have the Dreamcast plugged in somewhere still. It doesn't transcend or subvert any of the JRPG tropes, but it presents them so earnestly and without any irony. It's a thoroughly pleasant game, and everything about it is incredibly upbeat and fun. There is a PS2 port, but it suffered from rushed production and a lot of new, annoying bugs. >I have most of the Guitar Hero games but I've never played... > >GH: Aerosmith or GH: Van Halen (360) - Mostly because I don't >particularly like either of the bands and the price charged at time of >release was silly. Guitar Hero Van Halen is particularly cringe-worthy because of the way the properties were handled. Wolfgang was photoshopped over images of Michael Anthony in several press photos and album covers, and the entire Sammy Hagar run of records is redacted out as if he was never a member of the band. It should have been a celebration of some excellent music but ended up being a showcase for intramural business conflict. -KKC, who is going to be nodding off a lot at the office today. -- -- "Step 8: Make a list of all the persons I | kendrick have harmed, and file them alphabetically | @io-nyc.com for ease of reference." | - David Javerbaum, "The Last Testament"

I played it and it was actually alright. Especially if you enjoyed (and remember) the movies. The dialog is reasonable and I think the narrative itself was written by Dan Akyroyd. The PS3 version was the one that looked a bit naff, which was considered a crime at the time because I think they claimed to have lead on that platform. Also, Sony secured some kind of exclusive with the game in the EU which meant that you could only get the PS3 version for about 3 or 4 months. |
