Default X-Arcade controller

Hi everyone,
I'm looking to sell my Arcade cabinet due to lack of space, and get an
X-arcade controller for my desktop machine to semi-replace it. It'll get
more use and free up a load of space.

The big question is - if I import from the USA what's the duty rate likely
to be charged? The one I want, the two controller unit without the
trackpad, is about £210 delivered from the UK, and about £130 delivered
from the USA. I've tried asking HMRC but they don't want to answer the
phone - has anyone imported controllers like this before, and what was the
rate of duty charged?

The two stick unit without trackball also seems to be out of stock in the
UK, so the only one available in the Uk is the one with the trackball
fitted, which costs even more. I don't want or need the trackball in the
unit, so I'm happy to go without, especially if I can save a decent amount
of cash.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

There's a buy-it-now one on ebay for £100
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-PLAYER-X...item43ac4fd214

....local pickup in Maidstone only.

If that doesn't suit you might find another one on there, if not now, at
some stage.

I have the earlier version -Hotrod 2.
Looks much the same, although mine is PS/2 only.

-Kevin.

Maidstone is far too far away to do a local pickup.

Any idea on the likely customs charges? I know these are well built, but
I'd rather buy new so I know the history of it - it's going to be well used
and for a long time when it arrives :-)

Are you any good with a soldering iron/saw? If so I would suggest
making your own controller from 2 Xbox 360 pads, gives you all the PC
emulation and the 360 arcade stuff in one controller.

I have an old 2 joystick one (without trackball) that requires a keyboard
PS/2 socket doing nothing much at the moment.
