Any witty subject header I could come up with has something to do with
presidential elections and is therefore not relevant to 99 percent of the group. ![]() Play: =-=-= UMD repair (PSP) - It's nice to know that after twenty years of doing amateur game system repair, I still have the knack</PSO>. Instead of paying more for replacement UMD housings than I paid for the actual games, I was able to put a ragged disk back together with no adhesive and no funny temporary fixes. Which means I was able to play my wonderful cheap copy of... Gurumin (PSP) - It's lovely. I get a pleasant Dreamcast vibe from the game, as the colours and shapes are charming in a way not unlike Evolution or Time Stalkers. It's not a patch on Zelda in any way, but as far as action RPGs go it's fine. I wouldn't recommend it to any adults though, as it's thoroughly unchallenging. Entertainment strictly for one's inner five-year-old. The 3rd Birthday (PSP) - Unlike this. Aya Brea's adventures in time travel are unforgivingly bleak. The idea that you can quantum leap from person to person is clever, but doesn't seem to make for a compelling play mechanism. I don't necessarily want to be guided more, but having to watch every corner of the screen to view information from a split-up HUD is annoying if I have to spend an hour deciding how to kill the enemy that's about to jump down my throat in the next five seconds. I'd rather play a more conventional third-person shooter. Red Dead Revolver (Xbox) - Here we go. I haven't played Redemption yet so I don't know how they compare, but this first game seems to strike all the right notes. I don't know if I agree with this method of telling the story by making you play through multiple protagonists, but as I've only finished the first level with the young sharpshooter I'm willing to withhold judgment for now. Skyrim (360) - New 360 means I can resume Skyrim. Of course, now that I have the capability I'm once again unmotivated to continue playing with my new character. I did wander over to Solitude to view the plot point there properly, as I missed it the first time around by sneaking into the city through the back door. But the <spoiler> still happened anyway even though I didn't witness it personally, which meant I had to refer to the wiki to find out what the quests were all about. Crackdown 2 (360) - "You have collected 82 of 500 agility orbs." "Good work, agent." "Purchase the DLC to access this area." Mostly I put the disk in just to see if I could make the new console crash, which it didn't. Yay. Tekken 6 (360) - I just had this in to register the wireless stick. My word, I didn't know this was an action RPG with an arcade fighter extra. Usually it's the other way around. I note with interest that they stole the arcade ranking system from Virtua Fighter 5. Fallout 3 (360) - I had forgotten how entertainingly creepy the American capital is in the dark. I was ready to declare Fallout 3 less buggy than Skyrim until I made the game crash on the new system after an Enclave raid. Which proves that my problems with Fallout were software and not hardware. Want: =-=-= Shining Blade (PSP) - Japan is getting all these cool RPGs that we'll never ever see in the west. Shining Blade is set in the Shining Force world, uses the Phantasy Star Universe combat and exploration mechanisms, and steals the singing maiden bit from Ar Tonelico. It's a gameplay feature that recalls the original Bard's Tale game, whereby the music that's presently playing affects the results of combat. I really want this game. Yakuza Kurohyou 2 (PSP) - We didn't get the first Yakuza PSP game, I don't reckon Sega will bring us the second one. Seems to borrow the four protagonist structure of Yakuza 4. If I had access to a Yakuza game on a handheld I would die in my commuter train seat of hunger and thirst. A copy of the Ranma DVD that's coming out in March - Oh good gods: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__...ion_poster.jpg Bin: =-= My old 360 (360) - I'll probably shop around the old thing for parts to the usual band of idiots around town. I'm willing to bet somebody wants the DVD drive or the power supply. Expenditure: =--=--=--= Beginning Balance - $0 Xbox 360 S (360) - $200 (no sodding Kinect or hard drive, thank you) Total year-to-date - $200 -KKC, who's not looking forward to a work day full of hurry. -- -- "Step 8: Make a list of all the persons I | kendrick have harmed, and file them alphabetically | @io-nyc.com for ease of reference." | - David Javerbaum, "The Last Testament" | |

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary (360) Just the third level. It quickly became apparent that I was going to have to drop down on heroic as I seem to have lost any gaming ability I may have ever had. Even on normal I died about ten times. It was a bad day. > Want: > =-=-= A Vita. > Bin: > =-= Nowt. > Expenditure: > =--=--=--= £0.00. -- Zo |

Thing I'd have prefered proper sprites rather than Donkey Kong Country style rendered ones though - hated those in that and this. Crysis 2 (360) At first I was all meh. I mean, it looked awesome and stuff, but it seemed like such a clone of various other sci-fi FPS games (Half-Life 2, The Conduit, AvP - you even make the Predator noise when you cloak) that I wasn't impressed. Now, however, I'm sucked in. I have become one with the combat and fighting tactics, really want the story to progress, and am getting good at slitting throats. About 80% of my kills have been stealth executions, so it's not even really a FPS any more. Cycletron 4000 (RL) Racked up another 22-odd miles over the weekend. That's over 50 in total. Then spent 22 of them last night on Mario 3D. > Want: > =-=-= Batrim and Skyman. > A copy of the Ranma DVD that's coming out in March - Oh good gods: > http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__...ion_poster.jpg Can't open the link, but what is this? Skyrim (360) Only a brief session to complete the Redguard quest. iOS Games - Lots of Carcassonne, with the new DLC I have nearly 26 games currently playing, I have managed to complete lots of games & now down to a manageable 10 games. Friendle - another online turn based game which gives you the option of quite a few game choices inc Words, Backgammon, Reversi Disc Drivin - Season 2 all games running in the Gold League. Ascendency - I purchased this anyway, it's only 69p. Very complicated game to play, had a brief go & di not know what I was doing so will need to revisit and figure it out. Scribblenauts Remix - Great fun this for 69p just messing around with the title screen making dinosaurs & helicopters. > Want: Borderlands 2 - Really would like to see some proper footage of this game now detailing the other characters > Bin: > =-= Nothing, all is good > Expenditure: This week Scribblenauts, Ascendency 69p each Mario Party DS, 3on3 Hoops £3 each -- gospvg [..getting old and still playing video games..] http://www.gospvg.com |

Kendrick Kerwin Chua the Monkey was never naughty:

Was really really good. I enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed the way it wrapped up at the end in particular. I'll definitely be playing through on nightmare to try and get 100%. Dead Island (360) - mixed feelings. On the one hand, I'm enjoying it a lot - I like the open-endedish oblivionness of it, although it has a fecking appalling save system which, so far, seems to have randomly dropped partially completed quests meaning I've had to do bits of them over again. For a horror game, it (surprisingly enough) is horrific. I'm finding myself quite repulsed by some of the things I have to do. I think it's crossed the line a few times. > Want: >=-=-= A bit more time. Playing Phantasy Star / RDR with son#2 tonight, Borderlands tomorrow, out wednesday. Ace, isn't it? I very nearly bought a huge boxed set of the entire show (all series, new and old) from eBay, then realised they're all VCD copies.
