I had an urge to buy a Kinect for a while there last year. Then it
faded. Now the wife and kids have used one they're kinda nibbling. I'm reluctant to get one mainly because I currently have total control over the 360. Getting Kinect would mean at least visitation rights for the children -and that leads to annexation. Soon I'd need to fill out a form whenever I want to play Battlefield 3! Apart from that... I know it's been asked many times, but now in the cold light of day, with some time for various titles to settle down and be seen in perspective... what, if any, are the must-have Kinect games/ other? -Kevin. |

I'm leaving my xbox 360 alone it is "Hardcore" & "HARDCORE" it will stay. Note - I am curious about the upcoming star wars game, kinect animals & the disney pixar game I saw in a trailer recently. -- gospvg [..getting old and still playing video games..] http://www.gospvg.com |

If your primary focus is family play, then both the Kinect Sports games are worth picking up. The bowling and table tennis games from the first are outstanding, as are darts and golf from the second. The other sports are generally less impressive and well-conceived but, having said that, the kids seem to love football and athletics even though I found them rather dull. Kinectimals is great if either of your little ones is into cuddly, fluffy things. My daughter absolutely loves it, and there is plenty to do and collect beyond just waving your arms at the cats. If you're partly thinking of it as an exercise device, then I can recommend EA Sports Active (2? - I think). It provides a varied and reasonably demanding workout. I felt some benefit (and a lot of sore legs) from the couple of weeks that I did it for. The fact that I slipped out of the routine at that point says a lot more about me than the software! I don't regret my purchase of Kinect, but equally I don't feel like it's revolutionised my gaming habits. Ultimately, what the system could really do with is a meaty, traditional game with well-implemented Kinect controls (I don't know if anyone tried the Kinect controls in Forza 4, but somehow I don't think that is the game that fits the bill). A lot of the Kinect exclusives are fun, and some are really quite impressive, but there's nothing there with real depth - it's mostly minigame collections, presented one way or another. That should be no surprise I suppose, given the target market, but it would be interesting (if only out of curiosity) to see what a developer dedicated to making a 'hardcore' game could do with the controls... -- Chris GT: SomethingWitty |

Tried Child of Eden on it at the meet and got very frustrated with the lag and occasional immersion-breaking loss of contact. Don't forget you need a huge room, too. -- -Toby Add the word afiduluminag to the subject to circumvent my email filters. |
