October saw my greatest expenditure thanks to Rage as well as
pre-orders for Skyrim and Star Wars: The Old Republic. November
saw the least expenditure because not only Skyrim but Arkham City
had been pre-ordered and I was given a £25 off voucher for Green
Man Gaming which reduced the cost of Saints Row: The Third to
less than a tenner.

Unsurprisingly PC gaming accounts for the majority of my spend,
however I didn't buy a single PS3 or 360 game during 2011.
Although it says that I've bought 55 games some spends were for
bundles, so I actually got a few more games for the PC.


TOTAL EXPENDITURE

2011 £819.09

The previous year's spend was £789.72, so not a huge increase in
spend. However the previous total included game subscriptions so
there was probably another £50 spent on them this year for WoW
and Rift. Will revise 2011's total once I've calculated these.

Mine includes my XBL subscription, but the total is:

£364.23

Without the Hardware cost of the Kinect that's pretty much in line with
last year. The only games I purchased full price at or near launch were
Portal 2 and Forza 4 (neither of which I have finished).

Most if my spend was on the 360, with other costs going on occasional iOS
games mostly sub £1.

Best value was the half price Borderlands DLC and the £7.85 I spent on the
bonkers Lost Planet 2 for the Monday night PMG sessions.

Well, of course a lot of games are multi-format, but I obviously meant
that I didn't buy any games on media that specifically ran on the PS3 or
360.

Seven gamers is hardly a representative sample, and I'm doubly a
statistical outlier for not being in the UK at all. But it seems to me
that on the whole, there was more to enjoy (and buy) in 2011 than there
was in 2010. At least, that's how I explain to myself why my spending went
up instead of down.

I can't see me spending near what I did this year - I don't see any hardware
purchases apart from possibly another DSi XL perhaps to replace my youngest
daughters DS.

I'm going to cut back on buying games especially for me to play but not for
the kids who seems to go through them quickly.
