Default [BA] Sonic and Sega Racing on iOS

Through the 12 Days of iTunes app, this is free today. I paid 69p for it on
Christmas day!

I really enjoyed the Xbox 360 game. This, however, is awful, due to the
floaty and inaccurate controls. But it does still have Billy Hatcher.

I 1kd it on 360, and said it was the kart racer of the gen after MKW was
shit. Wonderful game. I got this for free yesterday and felt ripped off.
Awful.

Was Sumo responsible for the iOS port? Based on just the two impressions
it sounds as if our Mr. Sutherland wasn't around to give this version the
care and feeding it deserved.

Nope, Gameloft. It's awful. Shame, as the original version really was
superb.

I was about to go on for four pages about how often Sega seems to join up
with less-than-stellar development partners. Then I realised that Gameloft
likely had "Audio the Porcupine's Kart Racing Celebrities" in the works
already and Sega just came in with the art assets to head it off at the
pass and earn their fair share.

-KKC, who can't wait for "Superior Impact Siblings Combat".

It said Sumo on the screen when it was loading.

got it yesterday.

Playing it straight after an extended Mario Kart 7 session any favours does
it not give.

It may be good, but it's nowhere near Mario Kart Wii.

The thing is, the game itself is solid enough, and as far as I can see all
the content of the main console versions is on there - the same tracks and
so on. It's a proper conversion.

It just controls really badly and it's incredibly hard to use items.
Actually, is it even possible to fire something backwards?

No, it was Sumo. I wrote a fair chunk of the iOS version.

FWIW, it's the highest Metacritic score for any game I've ever worked on.
