Kind of a bold statement to make based on two weeks. Let's see in one year's time.

Too early yet, it is Japan & all Sony need is the games on the vita to sell
it. Just look what happened to the 3ds sales after Mario & Monster Hunter
were released.

It's almost a complete retread of the DS/PSP so far.

It'll pick up, sure, but like the PSP (and PS3) it's going to take
yeeeeeears. And some Monster Hunter games.

In its second week it's still being outsold by pretty much everything. In
it's launch week it was outsold by the 3DS. Sony boosted units from
500,000 to 700,000 as they expected to sell out immediately, and they've
not sold 500,000 yet.

As I said, it'll pick up. Slowly. The PSP has done well in Japan, but it's
still dwarfed (8 to 1, I think) by the DS.

Not if you look at sales figures, it was outsold by the 3DS which is
already considered a bit of a flop and that's been out for months! Not only
that, but the sales figures dropped massively in the second week too!

I don't think it's too early at all, lots of companies will be looking at
the early sales reports and deciding if they'll develop for it. Likewise
there will be a certain demographic who will be wanting to see if it's
doing well before buying one. Those people are bound to be out off by these
early figures.

Nonsense. Just the fact that the same pattern repeats for just about all hardware
launches should be a bit of a giveaway. The only ones who buy new hardware
immediately are the enthusiasts who want everything that's new and shiny, and people
who really like one of the launch lineup series. Everyone else holds off, and as more
games are released the sales pick up.

Not based on two weeks worth of data they won't.

The reason people are concerned is not that the sales nosedived in the
second week, but that the opening week's sales were considerably below
expectations - selling less than the DS, PSP, and 3DS - and this console
isn't even supply-constrained as those others were. Sony expected sales to
then continue, but they didn't.
