Crash Bandicoot
Nope not interested in another platforming jumping around collect things game. Command & Conquer Somehow I never got round to playing any othe the C&C games, At the time JAP RPG's were my interest & even though I enjoyed turn based JAP RPG's I could not get interested in any of the western strategy games of the time until Mech Commander 2 Chuck Rock Another Platformer title that I remember getting the pull out poster with an issue of ST Gamer Crysis By this time I had left PC gaming & had returned to console gaming, I may pick up the sequel but does the story continue from the first? Carmageddon Drive cars & kill people for points was that it? -- gospvg [..getting old and still playing video games..] http://www.gospvg.com/ |

I never played past the first few minutes, as I recall that my copy was one of the defective first-pressings that wouldn't work on every GD-ROM drive. I'm suddenly gripped with paranoia that I've told this story already in some other thread. Cadash (MD) - It's on multiple platforms, but I have the Megadrive/Genesis cart prominently displayed for the nice art. I've never actually played it, but I understand it to be some sort of jumpy/whippy scrolling game not unlike Castlevania. Castlevania (NES) - The first game in the series never did click with me, as I expected it to be an RPG hybrid the way Simon's Quest was. I'm grateful that most of the later entries in the series ended up more like the latter than the former. Criticom (SAT) - Some sort of high-level RTS, wasn't it? A strategy game of some variety anyway, with Vic Tokai's name attached to it. Or it might have been an FPS, I really don't know. I need to take an afternoon and hunt through the Saturn library just to see if I've missed out on any particular gems. Cosmic Fantasy 2 (TGCD) - One of those early Working Designs JRPGs that seemed more special at the time than it actually was. I seem to recall that it was possible to die in the very first battle, which would account for why I never put any time into it. -KKC, who better get a bonus or a canned ham or something for all this work. -- -- "Step 8: Make a list of all the persons I | kendrick have harmed, and file them alphabetically | @io-nyc.com for ease of reference." | - David Javerbaum, "The Last Testament"

Quiet week thus week.
Carrier Command (ST) An early FPRTS which saw you piloting planes and boats as well as the lumbering carrier in your quest to take over an archipelago before your evil twin. My games would always start well with an amphibious attack following a devastating jet attack on the first island's defences. Then I'd get bored at the time it took to travel to the next battle and turn off. I don't think I ever saw the next island ever. |

Cadaver
Played the demo level that was on my coverdisk over and over but never tried the full game. Cave story Only played the first 30 seconds. Looks good, would like to get back to it some time, but video footage of later levels look pretty difficult! Cabal Not even sure what it is. Vertical scrolling soldier game? Ceefax I never had a TV that supported it so never played Bamboozle. Civilization II Many say it's the best version. I skipped from 1 to 3. Call of Duty MWIII It'll be a while before I play this. I quite like the mindless shooting and pretty graphics, but they're so linear that I'm not willing to play the MW games until the price has come *way* down. Don't feel like I'm missing much by waiting, either. Contra Not even sure what it is. Something like Space Harrier? Custer's Revenge Never played it but I've seen plenty of screenshots! -- -Toby Add the word afiduluminag to the subject to circumvent my email filters. |

What made the arcade game special was the use of a track ball to move a crosshairs around on the screen, for pinpoint shooting accuracy. The trick was that the same device was used to move your little gunman around, which meant that you had to use big arch movements to keep from getting gunned down yourself. The NES game is a reasonably playable facsimile, even without the track ball. -KKC, who needs some rum in this cola. -- -- "Step 8: Make a list of all the persons I | kendrick have harmed, and file them alphabetically | @io-nyc.com for ease of reference." | - David Javerbaum, "The Last Testament"

I am going to reveal some shocking truths.
Cosmic Smash OK, rare Japanese Dreamcast game, but that didn't stop me on quite a few other releases. Really wanted this. Never bought it. Civilisation I've played Civ Revolution on the DS and on the iPhone. I've bought Civ V on the Mac. Never loaded it though. Crash Team Racing Better than Mario Kart? I couldn't tell you. Canabalt I've played Mirror's Edge. Does that count? The Conduit I won this from Sega on Twitter. The special edition and everything. It remains sealed. Crysis My computer would never have run it for a start. Colin McRae's Rally games I loved Sega Rally. I loved the rally stages in Gran Turismo 2. I loved V-Rally. But a rally game more accomplished than all those put together remains unplayed. Tim (tm) |
