I am saving all my games onto the 360 hard drive & the user profoiles are saved on a 512mb xbox360 memory card.
So this saving onto a usb key method, does any usb key work? Can I make a backup of that USB key to PC? -- -- gospvg [..getting old and still playing video games..] http://www.gospvg.com |

Can I make >a backup of that USB key to PC? Theoretically any USB memory works, but you only get up to 16 GB of storage no matter how much space is actually there. But you have to format it using the 360 first, and it doesn't use a standard FAT32 or NTFS file format. That means that you can't read the contents on a Windows PC once it's formatted that way. I think that someone was working on Linux/UNIX drivers to be able to mount 360 USB storage, but I don't know if that project went anywhere. One of the many online compatibility lists is here: http://blog.yellowchilli.net/2010/04...ash-drive.html It's discouraging how mnay USB devices end up being incompatible. I'm told that this has something to do with the read response speed. -KKC, loading up the sound system for office Guitar Hero hijinks. -- -- "Step 8: Make a list of all the persons I | kendrick have harmed, and file them alphabetically | @io-nyc.com for ease of reference." | - David Javerbaum, "The Last Testament" | |

I think what I will do is leave my saves on the hard drive & just backup the saves files to my 512mb memory card for the current game I am playing. -- gospvg [..getting old and still playing video games..] http://www.gospvg.com |

Downloading saves from PC to USB presumably doesn't work. Just backup to USB stick and use the HDD or internal memory for live saves. The USB stick is the backup then. Unless you want to move the saves between consoles when it might be easier to do it the other way around. -- John Talbot XBL, PSN, Twitter, Everything : jochta Blog & Gaming Diary : http://www.buttonsofmymind.co.uk/ "Leading the fight..." |

There was just one massive file inside. Normally, the drive just shows up as having no space on it. Don't know what I did, but pretty sure I could have backed it up. As a form of backup it's a bit pointless though, you need to copy saves over one at a time which is painful if you've got loads and not something you'd want to do often. -- [ste] |
